Network/Systems Administrator

We are searching for a Network/Systems Adminstrator to join our helpdesk team. The Network/Systems Administrator provides a vital link between the leadership and the day-to-day support of an IT helpdesk. This role fills the gap between remote IT support and the need for onsite client engagement while ensuring the help desk phone lines are covered. This position requires strong communication and written skills. This person must enjoy consulting with a variety of clients.

Operational:

  • Dispatches service tickets on a daily basis
  • Identifies aging service tickets
  • Performs and documents monthly/ quarterly proactive maintenance at client locations
  • Ensures the managed services client's infrastructures are well documented
  • Ensures the helpdesk line is covered by an engineer during business hours
  • Ensures a backup and recovery solution is in place for all managed services clients
  • Ensures after hours support is covered by an engineer
  • Proficient with documenting processes and procedures

Technical Competency:

  • Provide level 2 support to the help desk for Line of Business Applications
  • Identifies systemic issues in day-to-day operations and works to either correct or escalate with the engineering team
  • Identifies issues requiring onsite support and coordinates the appropriate resource
  • Able to install and support simple systems infrastructures comprised of Vmware, Storage, Active Directory, and Exchange
  • Able to support network firewalls and switches
  • Thorough understanding of network subnets, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues using network and systems best practices

Projects/ Project Management:

  • Schedules and coordinates simple installation work with clients
  • Schedules and coordinates manages services maintenance and systems repairs with clients
  • Participates in projects as a contributing implementation engineer as tasked

Team/ Interpersonal:

  • Conveys understanding and competency in communications with clients and co-workers
  • Trains and mentors junior technicians and engineers
  • Engages with clients as a trusted advisor to the infrastructure Xceptional Networks supports
  • Contributes to the improvement of managed services processes
  • Works collaboratively and escalates issues to the team in a timely, solutions focused way

Certifications:

  • ITIL Foundation
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA R&S)
